Our company traces its
roots back to 1887. It has undergone several ownership changes in the past
couple of decades. Most of those were remote owners with non-equity holding
general managers on location. Following some mismanagement during those times,
the original Langdon Manufacturing Co. went into chapter 7 in 1991. The assets
were purchased by a former employee and incorporated into a small Cut 'N Sew
operation he'd begun. The corporate entity is Weckworth Manufacturing, Inc.,
d.b.a. "Weckworth-Langdon".
The new company grew rapidly
during the ensuing years and was acquired in Sept., '93 by Bob Hoffmann. Bob
was a former executive with the Coleman Co. Since the acquisition, the company has continued to grow, and has found tremendous success with its variety of product lines and continuously expanding customer base.
We are a contract manufacturer,
with over 250 industrial sewing machines (single needles, double needles, box "X's",
bar tackers, programmables), and several Radio Frequency Hot Wedge & Hot
Air Fabric Welders. In November, 1994, we relocated the company from a 44,000
sq. ft. facility to one that's grown to over 90,000 sq. ft. About 60%-65% of
our sales is to the US government, mostly military, for whom we’re proud to manufacture bags, harnesses, holsters, etc. for use at home and abroad.
We produce covers for the
inlets, exhaust, and thrust reversers on jet engines for military and commercial
aircraft. We make oil rig shelters, used to protect equipment/people from the
elements on oil drilling rigs, and fire shelters for wildland firefighters.
The accompanying pages give
additional details on the company's capabilities, and a pictorial sampling
of representative products previously produced for a variety of customers.
Thank you for giving us this
chance to share our pride in our company with you, and for the opportunity
to fulfill your fabric-based product needs.
The Employees of Weckworth-Langdon.
